Senior Application Server Administrator - Operations Analyst (3 openings)

- Must pass screening (financial/criminal background) and must be able to obtain a clearance – a DHS background investigation will be conducted – no specific clearance is required
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, systems engineering, computer network engineering, or other related area and four years of additional work experience in lieu of a degree.
- 3-5 years overall work experience in software development or production support/monitoring environment
- Experience in Service Operations
- Working knowledge of Technology architecture, Technology configuration and deployment,
- Ability to identify and communicate issues and risks to the team lead or end user to facilitate timely resolution
- 5+ yrs Experience working in a UNIX and/or Microsoft development environments
- 4+ yrs Experience with Oracle and SQL*plus
- 5+ yrs Experience with Unix or SUN Solaris OS and scripting languages
Nice to have:
- Previous experience with C++ or Java a plus
- Previous experience with Oracle 10g Application Server (or greater version) support
Three (3) openings in support of the US-VISIT Mission Systems Production Application Support, provides operational support to the largest biometric system in the world. Supports production activities and helps establish procedures to be used in support of the IDENT biometric matching system and other US-VISIT Mission Systems. Six Month PLUS contract projected to last till March 2014.
Available Shifts
- Position 1 (Apps Server Admin): 4pm-12pm Sun-Thurs (No travel, but occasional on-call support)
- Position 2 (Sr. Ops Analyst): Work hours: 8am-5pm Sat, Sun and 3 days TBD
- Position 3 (Apps Support – Sr. Ops Analyst): Work hours: 4pm-12pm Sun, Mon, Tues, Fri, Sat
Key Responsibilities 80% of responsibilities
- Provide 24×7 monitoring, troubleshooting, problem resolution & support for the US-VISIT Mission Production and Training environments.
- Support creation and management of Training environments.
- Assist in providing 24×7 monitoring of US-VISIT Mission systems for proper performance.
- Manage and provide on-call support for US-VISIT Mission application environments.
- Work to make ad-hoc tasking repeatable and assist in establishing regular operational procedures.
- Create scripts and programs to perform ad hoc tasking.
- Provide support for establishing the software refresh plan.
20% of responsibilities
- Develop processes and procedures to improve the support of Production & Training environments
- Create management process for Production & Training environment allocation and support
- Work with Configuration Management team to develop refresh procedures and develop the required tools to execute a refresh
- Raise roadblocks and disruptions to Team Lead that may distract from completing assigned duties.
- Create assigned deliverables within established scope and timeframes
- Understand roles and responsibilities as communicated by the Team Lead.
- Adhere to program policies, standards, procedures and objectives.
- Identify project issues, risks and participate in creation of risk mitigation plans.
- Monitor and comply with performance metrics and SLAs for the IDENT system.
- Continually broadens own technical, functional, and industry skill base
- Reports weekly status to the relevant team leaders. Identifies problems and brings them to supervisors attention with sufficient lead time to avert crises. Also identifies changes in scope or work effort that could result in budgetary overrun or the missing of delivery dates.
- Works effectively as a leader on the team and seeks to support the team s goals above individual goals.
- Notifies supervisors/escalates issues when problems or issues arise that are outside of normal scope of area.
- Identify areas for improvement and take ownership of identified areas. Ownership teams developing the detailed work plan, assigning personnel and managing the development scheduled for the improvement/automation opportunity. Risks and issues associated with area of responsibility are expected to be managed by the Sr. Software Support Engineer.
