Distributor Business Manager

This position will be home-based preferrably in the Cleveland, Ohio or Columbus, Ohio area. Will also consider the Cincinnati, Ohio and Lexington, Kentucky area. The Distributor Business Manager (DBM) within our Distributor Sales Team has single point accountability for overall business results and relationships for an assigned Wholesale Distributor (WD) network. Responsibilities include maximizing BP/Castrol's sales revenue, gross margin and return-on-investment across all brands sold through a specific WD network into the automotive and Heavy Duty (HD) market spaces. The individual will work closely with assigned distributors to grow their lubricant business.
Key accountabilities
• Shares accountability with assigned Passenger Car Oil & HD/Commercial Truck sales specialists for delivering the annual sales, gross margin and business performance results within identified WD network.
• Partner with distributors and sales specialists to develop individual WD business plans and facilitates ongoing reviews to ensure achievement of identified business targets within assigned expense budgets.
• Ensures distributor and their staff are properly trained in BP/Castrol's products, value- selling techniques, programs and benefits of trading up to premium product segments across all market spaces.
• Ensures planning and implementation of national/regional/local marketing programs via the segment/space specialist.
• Ensures fit with the customer to maximize the business relationship and development of the top 15 key customers for each distributor within the assigned area of responsibility.
• Ensures implementation/completion of all reporting, including Siebel, expense, sales statistics and forecasting that is required to properly manage the business within the assigned area of responsibility.
• Practices HSSE initiatives and meets company objectives in this area.
Essential criteria & qualifications
• Legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
• The willingness and ability to travel up to and including 50% of the time overnight in order to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.
• A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• A minimum of 4 years of sales and/or managerial experience with the WD/broker channel.
• A minimum of 4 years of experience with negotiating, planning and budgeting relative to the profitable execution of sales plans.
• The ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Desirable criteria & qualifications
• A Bachelor’s Degree in a sales/marketing related discipline
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in sales finance.
