Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
30% Duties:
Overall Management of the BTS Design & Engineering Teams
Lead and oversees the strategic direction and vision for the Server, Storage, Database and Network Infrastructure teams
Understand and support the relationships and dependencies with other Technical Service groups - including BTS Data Center Operations, Service Desk, Deskside Services, Affiliate Relationships, Service Management and Architecture Strategy
Works directly with Enterprise Architecture to review and drive strategic needs to develop solutions and conduct Proof of Concepts (POC) efforts
Collaborates across the technology life cycle with Business Relationship Directors in support of business needs
Manages gateway into production environment ensuring all standards are met
Evaluate and recommend future Infrastructure strategies to meet the needs of the organization
Assists with disaster recovery planning and setup
Provide vision for implementing emerging technologies in collaboration with Enterprise Architecture and IT Enterprise Operations
Provide budgetary oversight for technology (hardware / software) for corporate
Provide strategy for applying upgrades and new releases to Infrastructure environments
Engage affiliates to collaborate on Infrastructure strategies and direction
Provide Infrastructure consulting to BTS applications, operations, Telecom, integration, database and Infrastructure centers of excellence
Manage resources to support on-time and on-budget delivery of the BTS Infrastructure implementation process, from initial estimates to operational transition
Review new project concept proposals and validate Infrastructure resource estimates
Create Infrastructure implementation sign-off process to formalize design/resource requirements, and agree on Infrastructure-Ready/Operational-Ready Dates with the project team
Approve the implementation of Infrastructure standards prior to start of implementation activities
25% Duties:
Manage Supplier and Vendor Relationships
Proactively negotiate Infrastructure purchase requests driving value of product and maintenance expense
Identify vendor solutions and opportunities to drive the progression of the defined corporate Technology Roadmap
Clearly identify corporate Infrastructure needs in Request For Proposal (RFP) documents
Review in detail all Proposals submitted for new Infrastructure components
Review vendor hardware/software solutions to assure that hardware conforms to corporate needs
Select integrators and vendor hardware solutions for corporate systems and technology projects
Define vendor roles and responsibilities as it relates to the interactions with BTS
Manage the results of vendor work on corporate systems and technology projects
Manage, maintain and modify Service Levels with key suppliers as business needs evolve
15% Duties:
Management of Storage and Database Services Design & Engineering Team
Lead and support the Technology teams to design, develop and coordinate new technologies for all Storage, Database and Backup components.
Develop, approve, and monitor detailed designs, specifications, and standards for corporate enterprise database development based on functional specifications
Manage and perform capacity planning for both initial setup and projection for future growth
Define a storage, database and backup architecture that will provide for the future storage needs of corporate based on business strategies, security, capacity planning, and disaster recovery requirements
Assess and drive improved standards for database availability
Communicate database development and support standards to project and support teams
Research new processes and technologies that achieve or improve project goals and to determine possible application to the organization
Build and test prototypes to verify the design concept and technology performance expectations
Assist Infrastructure Implementation team to review new project concept proposals and provide Infrastructure resource estimates
Ensure optimal utilization of storage Infrastructure resources employing a tiered storage strategy
15% Duties:
Management of Network and Security Infrastructure Design & Engineering Team
Lead and support the Technology teams to design, develop and coordinate new technologies
Define a network architecture that will provide for the future needs of corporate based on business strategies, security, capacity planning, and disaster recovery requirements
Provide technical leadership for BTS's network and security enterprise initiatives
Manage resources to support on-time and on-budget delivery of the corporate BTS network Infrastructure, from initial estimates to operational transition
Assist Infrastructure Implementation team to review new project concept proposals and provide Infrastructure resource estimates
Ensure optimal utilization of network Infrastructure resources
Develop strategy to improve customer experience, decrease costs, and shorten implementation times
Provide technical expertise for Tier 3 to Tier 4 network troubleshooting
15% Duties:
Management of Server Infrastructure Design & Engineering Team
Lead and support the Technology teams to design, develop and coordinate new technologies
Develop strategy to improve customer experience, decrease costs, and shorten implementation times
Analyze technology specifications and requirements to determine if the technology is compatible with our current standards and utilizes the most efficient processes
Manage resources to support on-time and on-budget delivery of the corporate BTS Server Infrastructure, from initial estimates to operational transition
Define a server architecture that will provide for the future server needs of corporate based on business strategies, security, capacity planning, and disaster recovery requirements
Provide technical leadership for BTS server enterprise initiatives
Assist Infrastructure Implementation team to review new project concept proposals and provide Infrastructure resource estimates
Ensure optimal utilization of server Infrastructure resources.
Qualifications/Requirements:
· Ten or more years in IT Infrastructure management
· Fifteen or more years in information systems
· Hands on management of teams of at least 20 people
· Design and management of an integrated IT Infrastructure
· Background in information systems delivery
· Work with Intel and Solaris based server operating systems (Windows 2000/ 2003/2008, Solaris 9)
· Work with Linux (Redhat)
· Work with advanced storage (NetApp and EMC Symetrix Class)
· Work with Global network providers including PIP and Cloud solutions
· Understanding of MPLS network technology
· Development and/or use of ITIL based processes
· Working knowledge/experience with private/public cloud technology platforms
· Ability to effectively interface with all departments within corporate, Information Systems and other business units
· Ability to work independently, with strong organizational and flexibility skills in a team-oriented environment
· Must be able to travel
Education:
· BA or BS in Computer Science or Engineering required
Software/Platform Expertise:
· Windows Server (2000, 2003, 2008), Unix OS (AIX, HPUX Sun Solaris) and Linux (Redhat)
