Qualifications
• AAS Electrical Engineering, AAS Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent required, BS Electrical Engineering preferred.
• 3-7 years experience in broadcast television, cable TV broadcaster or MSO.
• Flexible schedule and ability to work alternating weekends; Excellent communications, written
and interpersonal skills.
Technical Skills
• Broadcast Audio, Video and Data networks
• Ability to repair analog or digital equipment down to the component level.
• Strong knowledge maintaining and aligning various video tape machines a plus (DigiBeta, Beta SR, HD).
• Sony VTR maintenance training certification on Digibeta/ HD VTRs is a plus.
• Harris/Louth Automation (or equivalent systems) training certification is desirable.
• Strong knowledge on maintaining, repairing and trouble shooting various video servers including OMNEON, SeaChange and Pinnacle)
• Knowledge of analog and digital audio technology, satellite RF technology and distribution methods, data networks, servers, archive, distribution systems, analog, digital SD and HD SMPTE standards including streaming media data formats.
• Ability to use spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, waveform/vector scopes and other broadcast test equipment.
• Understanding of surround sound and Dolby E transmission systems.
Personal Attributes
• Ability to change priorities and handle last minute changes as needs dictate.
• Knowledge of Windows, 2000, XP, Server 2003 operating systems. Knowledge of other operating systems (Linux) is a plus.
• Ability to use AutoCAD to create or modify system drawings.
• Ability to work independently on assignments and report back on progress.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
• Install, repair & maintain audio, video, RF, and server-based Standard and High Definition broadcast systems, including ancillary data services such as VITS and VANC
• Maintain, repair and trouble shoot various data tape or disk based archives (ADIC, EMC, Front Porch Digital, etc.)
• Maintain, repair and trouble shoot HPA’s, antennas, waveguide, exciters and other RF satellite transmission equipment
• Maintain, repair and trouble shoot AV routing switchers, character generators, still stores, logo generators, frame synchronizers, distribution amplifiers, patch bays and other broadcast infrastructure equipment
• Maintain, repair and trouble shoot Motorola, Digicypher, and SA Power Vue encryption equipment.
• Setup, maintenance and operation of Harris/ Louth Automation systems.
• Setup, patch and monitor LIVE events
• Assist or install cabling and equipment, interpret wiring diagrams and drawings used in the design of new installations.
• Testing and certification of new installations or modifications.
• Configure and troubleshoot computer network infrastructure including Ethernet switches. Use network tools (PING, Port Scan, etc) as well as SNMP systems and architecture
Additional Activities
• Assist and take phone calls from affiliates in order to resolve problems
• Maintain database or reports on preventative maintenance assignments
• Work on minor projects assigned by Technical Supervisor or Engineering staff
• Interface with On Air staff regarding daily needs
• Attend various departmental and crew staff meetings
• Training of operational staff on equipment and/or configurations

• Shift work is available 7a to 7p, 12p to 12a, 7p to 7a
• Floating 12 hour shifts with 2 days / 2 days off / 3 days / 2 days off
