Full-time IT Support Technician

BAE Systems is seeking an IT support technician to install, configure, modify, and troubleshoot computer networks, hardware, and software.
2. REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
• EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
o Four year degree in a technical discipline and two years of technical experience. Specific experience in networking and cabling desired.
• LANGUAGE SKILLS
o Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
• MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
o Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• REASONING ABILITY
o Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
o Within three months of hire must achieve Comptia Network + certification. Within three more months must pass MCITP: Enterprise Support Technician exams (70-620 and 70-622) and within three more months must pass two additional exams to be determined later. Atlantic Marine will provide free time off and pay for successful exams and offer some financial assistance for training resources.

o While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.

3. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/PROJECT TASKS

• Reports to and takes direction from CIO and Help Desk Team Lead.
• Answers client's inquiries in person and via telephone concerning systems operation. Diagnoses system hardware, software, and operator problems.
• Recommends or performs minor remedial actions to correct problems based on knowledge of system operation.
• Logs, updates and closes service requests from any source in Help Desk software in accordance with published procedures.
• Inspects computer equipment and reads order sheet listing user requirements to prepare computer for delivery.
• Installs or assists service personnel in installation of hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers, cameras, and disk drives on user's premises.
• Loads specified software packages such as operating systems, Microsoft Office, Adobe, security and other programs into computer.
• Enters commands and observes system functions to verify correct system operation. Instructs user in use of equipment, software, and manuals.
• Provides users with Level 1 network and phone system technical support and escalates if unable to resolve.
• Responds to needs and questions of users concerning their access of resources on the network.
• Replaces defective or inadequate software packages.
• Performs network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common network problems.
• Assists the IT Support Specialist with upgrades to network hardware and software.
• If unable to resolve work ticket, then does initial research for answer. If still unable to resolve, seeks Level III assistance and then places trouble call to vendor help desk.
• Researches, resolves or refers telecom service issues and concerns to Director IT Operations
• Verifies accuracy of all IT related invoices.
• Responsible for setup, repair and operation of video conferencing.
