Equipment Operator
at Confidential in Helena, MT
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of state statutes regarding solid waste disposal and management; landfill and Public Works Department policies and procedures; safety regulations and requirements; methods, practices, and procedures for solid waste management; safe equipment operating practices and procedures; equipment operations and maintenance procedures. Ability to operate heavy equipment, including
compactor, scraper, loaders , according to prescribed standards; use hand tools, including chain saw, packer, jackhammer, according to prescribed standards; understand and carry out oral and written instructions; communicate effectively orally and in writing; establish effective working relationships with fellow employees, supervisors, and citizens. PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS: Duties are generally performed in both indoor and outdoor environments where hazards and discomforts are generally controlled and modifiable Position performs work in all types of weather in the dust, dirt and debris. This position must be able to stand, twist, stoop, reach, and push, pull, move and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and 100 pounds on a brief and random basis. Position requires regular contact with fellow employees and occasional contact with citizens. QUALIFICATIONS: The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to high school graduation and one (1) year heavy equipment operation.Solid waste management or landfill experience preferred.Must possess a valid Class A commercial driver’s license.
