Full-time Sr. Business Intern (Retirement Plans)

The Retirement Plans Division (RPD) develops, manufactures and markets a broad range of asset accumulation and income annuity products that meet the special needs of its targeted distribution channels and their customers. RPD employs specialized wholesalers who support its targeted distribution channels including the Company's career Agents. Although RPD is part of Group Benefit Services Operation, it operates as a self-contained unit with accountability for product development, marketing, sales, underwriting, compliance, actuarial, accounting, systems support and administration of all RPD products.

The Senior Business Intern in the RPD Compliance department will contribute to the efficient and effective achievement of Company business and compliance objectives by applying and gaining knowledge of the business and legal environment and completing work assignments.

Accountabilities:
Observes the business operation and gains knowledge of the business and its environment. Engages in effective and efficient work processes to contribute to the achievement of Company business objectives. Conducts legal research and analysis regarding qualified and nonqualified retirement plan products, including, but not limited to, tax law, ERISA, insurance law, contract principles, securities law, property and estate laws. Drafts legal memoranda and effectively communicates results of legal research. Drafts and reviews contracts and related legal documents. Completes projects and work assignments as directed by management. Interacts and works with internal and external business customers.

'Qualifications:
Currently enrolled either part-time or full-time in an accredited law school with 1 year completed. Job-related coursework or equivalent experience in a field related to the internship. Strong knowledge of and ability to use various business software applications on a personal computer including word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Skill in: oral and written communication; human relations; creativity. Ability to: analyze and interpret information; exercise judgment; be flexible.
