What You'll Do
John Deere Credit is seeking an Attorney who can provide guidance, counsel, research and legal advice to the Company's Crop Insurance Operation and other legal support to the Company's Credit Operation as required. This position will:
Conduct legal research and provide counsel in the areas of crop insurance, compliance matters and general corporate law Review compliance and insurance claim issue Draft, review and edit contracts that support the Company's objectives in the Crop Insurance Operation
We need an excellent communicator and a team player who is able to convey legal knowledge and advice in a clear and concise manner in both oral and written presentations. The ideal candidate will have corporate legal experience; however, prior experience in crop insurance and corporate law in a private law firm advising corporations will be considered.
In addition we require:
J.D. degree from an accredited law school Minimum 2-5 years experience planning, executing and advising on complex issues involving crop insurance or property-casualty law Ability to perform legal research using the internet, Westlaw, plus various on-line tools and CD-ROM programs Demonstrated skill in negotiation and conflict resolution Understands legal issues affecting area of responsibility, able to identify issues associated with assigned tasks, and able to spot ethical issues in practice Effective writing skills, including grammatical usage, persuasive copy and style
