Production Lead

Under limited supervision, plans, directs, and coordinates activities
for designated projects and team members to ensure that goals or
objectives are accomplished within prescribed time frames and within
financial cost objectives.
Essential Functions:
Must have experience working with welding and/or CNC Machining in a
manufacturing environment
Assigns workers to workstations to meet production requirements.
Ensures employees under the lead are fully trained in all department
work instructions.
Interprets process specifications for workers.
Monitors production and adjusts work assignments, supply of material,
and machine operation when necessary.
Transports materials between production and storage areas.
Provide up-to-date information on inventory, the status of work in
progress and quality standards.
Repairs various machines, using hand tools and power tools; refers
extensive machine repairs to maintenance personnel.
Confers with supervisor to receive instructions and exchange production
information.
Looks for ways to improve manufacturing processes and quickly reacts to
changes in customer demand.
Assists with the coordination of daily tool box meetings and communication.
Maintains constant communication with supervisor, other leads and
materials departments.
Apply lean production techniques and development of teams, stations or
cells to support the process.
Understands, applies and emphasizes continuous quality improvement
techniques.
Trains workers in work instructions and equipment operation.
Works closely with other departments to implement company goals and
objectives.
Works with other departments and areas of responsibility to define,
coordinate, and develop solutions for department or area specific
requirements and problems.
Assumes additional related responsibilities as required.
Additional Responsibilities:
May perform duties of absent workers to maintain production.
May work with statistical reporting and analysis of On Time Performance,
past dues, and departmental supplies.
May test random samples of product, using various test equipment, to
verify products meet specifications.
Support of and involvement in company, department, and/or safety
policies, procedures, programs and activities.
Maintain a clean and orderly work area using 5s Standards and CPS.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly
required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel;
reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or
crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell.
The employee may exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to
30 lbs. of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force
constantly to move objects.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision,
distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and
ability to adjust focus.
May be exposed to considerable noise from machinery.
Work Environment:
Works in a production environment in designated shop floor locations;
may be exposed to moving mechanical parts; heat and moderate noise from
machinery. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
but occasional visits to areas with high noise levels or other physical
hazards will require the use of personal protective equipment. Safety
glasses with side shields and steel-toe shoes are required in all areas
of the production floor.

Required Skills
Job Qualifications:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or a combination
of over two years of directly related training and/or experience; or
equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in
word processing, spreadsheets and database software. PC and word
processor skills including but not limited to Word, Excel, and
PowerPoint. JDE system experience preferred.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety
rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and policy procedure
manuals. Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and
statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions,
percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete
variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written,
oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Certificates/Coursework:
Requires training in Basic Math, Blue Print/RPO Reading, Electrical
Basics I, Measuring Instruments, CPS, Quality Systems, Inspection
Procedures/Test Equipment and assigned area Work Instructions
Requires certification as a Certified Operator
May require forklift, crane and hoist certification.
