• Bachelors Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science or
  related experience
• Five plus years of backup management experience (NetBackup / TSM preferred)
• Five plus year of experience with VTL, DSSU and D2D2T technologies and procedures.
• Familiar with backups relating to Unix, Windows, VMWare, database (e.g. – Oracle RMON).
• Experience with tape archiving procedures.
• Patch management for backup systems.
• Five plus years experience with SAN concepts and best practices, including the different SAN topologies:
• Experience with Sun branded (StorageTek / LSI and HDS) SANs desirable.
• Experience with HDS, EMC, HP, NetApp and IBM SANs desirable.
• Patch management for all SAN technologies
• Switch administration primarily McData (e.g., Intrepid 5XXX and Spheron 4xxx), Brocade (e.g., Silkworm 5xxx, DCX Director) and Cisco.
• Must be familiar with logical functions of switches like zoning and port types, as well as the physical attributes of the different switches.
• Experienced with appropriate storage and switch management tools, e.g., HiCommand (HDS), CAM (Sun / LSI), EFCM / DCFM (switches).
• The understanding of how storage is presented to the environment and reviewing diagnostic output when necessary to work with admins is key.
• Knowledgeable of creating file systems and partitioning, including volume managers and clustering especially how these apply to storage. This includes LVM Disksuite and Veritas Suite.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Strong troubleshooting skills

Additional Skill sets:

• UNIX administrative experience, Solaris 8 through 10 minimum (Linux, HP-UX, AIX a plus) is desirable.
• Familiarity and/or experience with ArcServe backup products.

The Backup and Storage Administrator will provide system, software and Hardware support. Backup tasks include establishing and maintaining backup policies, schedules, recovery, archiving, reporting and troubleshooting as required to meet meet client expectations. Storage tasks include the allocations, zoning, installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting of storage systems.

This position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong customer service focus, ability work in a team as well as independently, ability to learn on the fly, ability to follow procedures, and ability to suggest improvements to existing procedures as appropriate.

Job Duties:

• Backup policy creation, implementation and support.
• Tape management and offsite coordination.
• Performance tuning and capacity planning
• Storage Area Network setup, configuration, allocation and support
• Working with various vendor support centers on problem resolution.
• Providing 7×24 hour support, as part of an on-call rotation, for numerous mission critical systems, which may require interfacing with multiple support teams to provide prompt problem determination and resolution.
• Providing detailed documentation for reporting, procedural, problem resolution and planning purposes.
